A really inspiring and thought-provoking day. Confident that the energy and commitment of the staff I met and heard during the day will help BEST deliver on this challenge!

This should be a really illuminating day. I'm looking forward to the workshops and to hearing the many ideas & strategies that will be discussed and debated at this event. I'm sure the learnings will have far reaching benefits to Basildon & potentially for communities all over the UK.

I would love to have more information about this. What did the actual project involve? Where is the positive/negative/passive/active table come from? I'm sure I've seen a version of that before. Very useful for advocates of informal learning.
I wonder if the author has heard of musical futures? (www.musicalfutures.org.uk) a fabulous and well-researched and developed informal learning model for schools.

Hello I am Joshua Walsh from Quarrydale school, I am about to start my final year at quarrydale school and I am very intresed about the gaming industry. I love my gaming yet I only go on my console (ps3) on weekends this allows me to concentrate during the week when I'm at school. But what I really want to know is what this gamiong for life is about and what jobs are involved.
In addition I am very creative i have worked in graphic design places before (CDA creative communications) and i have my own gamming logo.
I would be thankful if you could get back to me as I am very intrested.

This is a must read article, especially post-general election. Education and schools face both challenges and opportunities post-election, and Annika's article certainly helps headteachers and policy-makers find the wood for the trees.

The key points of your article resonate with my experience working with a severely deprived school community in Morth London. I am constantly battling with the league table imperatives and the development of a holistic learning environment which is based on strong relationships. We do however have a beautiful new glass building which as you rightly say does not substitute for effective relationships but has significantly enhanced the learning environment and says very significantly for our community that their learning matters and that they matter.
